2. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit the site, your browser connects to GitHub’s servers, which may record the IP address and technical data of the request (date and time, requested page, referring page, browser and operating system) in server logs to comply with legal obligations and to maintain the security and integrity of the service. We do not have access to these logs and do not operate any analytics or tracking on this website.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing this website securely and reliably (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). GitHub, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which provides an adequate level of data protection for transfers to the USA (Art. 45 GDPR). 3. Fonts, cookies, and tracking

The fonts used on this website are stored on our own hosting; no connection to third-party font providers is established. This website does not set cookies of its own, does not use analytics services, and does not embed advertising or social media tracking.

You can subscribe to our e-mail updates by entering your e-mail address in the subscription form. We use the service Buttondown, provided by Buttondown, LLC (buttondown.com), United States, to manage the subscriber list and send the e-mails. When you submit the form, your e-mail address, the time of the subscription, and your IP address are transmitted to Buttondown. You then receive a confirmation e-mail; the subscription only becomes active after you confirm it (double opt-in). We use your e-mail address solely to send you updates about BtrBlocks.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by using the unsubscribe link contained in every e-mail or by contacting us; your address is then deleted from the subscriber list. 5. Blog comments

Blog posts embed a comment section powered by utterances, an open-source widget that stores comments as issues in a public GitHub repository. When you open a blog post, your browser loads the widget from utteranc.es and queries the GitHub API to display existing comments, which transmits your IP address to these services. To write a comment, you must sign in with your GitHub account and authorize the utterances app; your comment is then published under your GitHub username in the public repository and is subject to GitHub’s privacy statement and terms. After signing in, utterances stores an access token in your browser’s local storage so that you remain signed in.

The legal basis for displaying comments is our legitimate interest in offering a discussion of our posts (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR); for publishing your comment and storing the token it is your consent, given by signing in (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). GitHub’s Data Privacy Framework certification (see section 2) covers the transfer to the USA. You can delete your comments at any time through GitHub, and you can remove the stored token by clearing your browser’s site data.

6. Contact by e-mail

If you contact us by e-mail, we store your message and the data you provide in order to handle your request and any follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where the request relates to a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering your request (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We delete the data when the request is settled, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

This website contains links to external websites. We have no influence on the data processing of their operators; the privacy policies of the respective operators apply.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to obtain information about the personal data we store about you (Art. 15), to have it rectified (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to receive it in a portable format (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21). Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3)). To exercise these rights, contact us at the address given above.
